 News: The Longest Walk arrives in Pittsburgh on June 11

Community OrganizationsThe CANEY INDIGENOUS SPIRITUAL CIRCLE in co-operation with the COUNCIL OF THREE RIVERS AMERICAN INDIAN CENTER is preparing to welcome the marchers of this year's LONGEST WALK II in Pittsburgh when they arrive after their trek through Ohio and West Virginia.

The LONGEST WALK II is a 30th anniversary celebration of the historic 1978 walk accross the US from California to Washington D.C. As in the case of the original WALK the LONGEST WALK II started in San Franscisco in February and is scheduled to arrive in DC in July. The theme of this year's march is an attempt to raise public consciousness in behalf of the immediate threat that is faced today by the global environment. It also aims to bring attention to the existance of locations all accross the US that Native Americans consider sacred.

His message describes the eco-spiritual foundations upon which many eco-leaders are building the next socio-political-spiritual systems and structures in the world.

This will be introducing the Coalition for the Global Commons, with whom many people affiliated with Share International, many from the Network of Spiritual Progressives, as well as many other people from around the world, have been working.

National coverage for this is amazing - now so many other parents with children with special needs will have an opportunity to hear about Reiki and its benefits. John Burton, whose son, Jack, participates in the circles regularly, did the interview with me, and he was great in talking about the positive changes in Jack and mentioning autism. So I know God had a purpose in having us do this - I'll keep you posted on any results that I see from it! Don't let the U.S. Congress pass up a major opportunity to provide desperately needed funding to help the hungry. They are in final negotiations on the Farm Bill, and this legislation could help address the food crisis. Currently farmers making $1 million a year receive support from the farm bill, but the poor affected by the food crisis do not. That does not sound right to us!

Fortunately, here is an opportunity to make a difference if we act quickly...

 News: Help Needed: Myanmar Cyclone Emergency

Help children affected by the cyclone in Myanmar Cyclone Nargis slammed into Myanmar over the weekend, killing thousands and leaving an estimated 100,000 homeless. Children are most vulnerable in times of disaster and will require lifesaving support to survive.

Immediate needs include water purification tablets, plastic sheeting, cooking sets, bed nets, emergency health kits and food.

UNICEF's Myanmar office has already delivered essential supplies—including first aid kits and oral rehydration salts—to the hard-hit Laputta township, and teams are being deployed to Yangon and Irrawaddy today.

With staff on the ground in Myanmar since 1950, UNICEF was ready to move into action immediately to save kids' lives. Your support today will allow us to continue immediate relief efforts for the children of Myanmar and address their ongoing needs in the aftermath of this disaster.

Thank you for your commitment to the world's children and for letting us call upon you in emergencies that require additional support. We are grateful for your dedication to our mission.
